Bōsōzoku (Japanese: 暴走族; "violent running tribe") is a Japanese subculture associated with types of car and motorcycle clubs and gangs. The word bōsōzoku is often applied to these gangs, mainly comprised of young men who share an interest in modifications (often illegal) for cars and motorcycles, such as removing the mufflers so that more noise is produced. Bōsōzoku also engage in dangerous or reckless driving, such as weaving in traffic, not wearing motorcycle helmets, and running red lights. Japanese police call them Maru-So (police code マル走). |

| Another activity is shinai bōsō (市内暴走) speeding in city streets, not usually for street racing but more for thrills. With many cars (or bikes) involved, the leading one is driven by the sentōsha (先頭車), the leader, who is responsible for the event and is not allowed to be overtaken. Others keep a lookout for side and rear cars/bikes. Although they do race, some groups prefer to simply bōsō, or violently run. They modify their exhaust systems to be extra loud and drive through suburbs at speeds of 5–10 miles an hour, waving imperial Japanese flags and shouting obscenities, occasionally throwing Molotov cocktails and carrying swords/spears, daring bystanders to challenge them. Bōsōzoku members tend to be perceived as criminals and misfits, and they are commonly said to be recruiting grounds for the yakuza. Very few bōsōzoku members are older than 20 as they are then considered adults under Japanese law and can earn a criminal record. Bōsōzoku members older than 20 are considered immature and childish. Bōsōzoku were first seen in the 1950s as the Japanese automobile industry expanded rapidly. The first bōsōzoku were known as kaminari-zoku (雷族; "Lightning Tribes"). There are bōsōzoku clubs throughout Japan, including female bike gangs (レディース, "ladies"), identified by their stylish fashion and customised motorcycles. Members take part in mass rallies and have had gang wars amongst themselves. As a fashion and youth subculture, bōsōzoku are subject to increasing state and police pressure. Drifting refers to a driving technique and to a motor sport involving the use of the technique. This article deals primarily with the sport. A car is said to be drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, and the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right), and the driver is controlling these factors. |

| Mariah Carey is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, music video director,
and actress. Her debut was in 1990 under the guidance of Columbia Records
executive Tommy Mottola, and she became the first recording artist to have
her first five singles top the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Following
her marriage to Mottola in 1993, a series of hit records established her

She has recorded the most number-one singles for a female solo artist (seventeen) in the United States, where she is the third best-selling female recording artist of all-time behind Barbra Streisand and Madonna, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. In addition to her commercial accomplishments, she has earned five Grammy Awards, and is well-known for her vocal range, power, melismatic style, and use of the whistle register. However, some critics have said Carey's efforts to showcase her vocal talents have been at the expense of communicating true emotion through song. Whitney Elizabeth Houston (born August 9, 1963) is a six-time Grammy award winning, American R&B singer, soprano, pianist, actress, film producer, and former model She is well-known for her powerful vocals, melismatic style, her expansive vocal range and her agile coloratura.Houston has also won twenty-three American Music Awards, a record for a group or solo artist, both male or female. Houston is one of a few black artists to receive heavy rotation on MTV in the 1980s, in the networks early years. She is the only artist to have a record seven consecutive Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit singles, is the fourth best-selling female artist in the US behind Barbra Streisand, Madonna and Mariah Carey,and she has sold over 170 million records worldwide. AOL Black Voices said "Though her success seemed like a lightening rod, it was always validated by Whitney's polished and powerful vocal abilities."Houston is considered one of the 100 most fascinating black women of the 20th century according to Ebony Magazine. Rumors of drug abuse and spousal abuse led to a decline in her album sales during the 2000s. She entered into drug rehabilitation twice. After a successful second program in 2006, Houston divorced her husband Bobby Brown and gained custody of their daughter. She has since been working on her 7th studio album with music mogul and close friend Clive Davis. |
